"Not having a pool to train in all last week killed us today," said Bakersfield director of swimming and diving Chris Hansen. "Our pool was closed all week giving us no blocks to train on. Our divers couldn't practice and the men had the 4 foot pool to train in. Physically there was no way were going to be able to overcome last week, We have our fingers crossed the pool is fixed and ready for when we get back. Cal Baptist was smart, wearing tech suits and shaving while we were down. However, swimmers Paola Hernandez, Michaela Paige, Delise Batiza and Mitchell Huxhold really were impressive. They didn't let the circumstances effect them. The younger swimmers need to learn from them."
The Roadrunner women return to action Jan. 3 when CSUB hosts San José State at 10 a.m. The Bakersfield men head back into the pool Jan. 11 when the Roadrunners host UC San Diego at 12 p.m.
