CLOVIS, Calif.--The Bakersfield men and women's swimming and diving teams swept Fresno Pacific Saturday at Clovis West High School.
WOMEN
The Roadrunners won 14-of-16 events and defeated the Sunbirds 194.5-82.5. Paola Hernandez (Fr., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS) won two individual events and was part of two relay victories. Hernandez won the 200 free (1:54.05) and the 100 butterfly (:57.85). She was part of the the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relays that took home first place.
Michaela Paige (So., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS) won the 100 freestyle (:52.90) and the 200 buttefly (2:06.61). Her 100 split during the 200 fly was the fastest of the year by a 'Runner swimmer (:56.91).
Jeanette Dove (Sr., Fontana, Calif., UC Santa Cruz) won both the 100 (1:00.38) and 200 backstrokes (2:10.37).
Delise Batiza (Jr., San Ramon, Calif., Oregon State) won both the 1000 free and the 400 IM (4:38.61).
Carlee Burks (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Centennial HS) won both the 1 meter (255.97) and 3 meter (222.25) diving events.
"The ladies are psyched to go into the Arena Invitational with a 3-1 record," said Bakersfield directory of swimming and diving Chris Hansen. "We had some great swims today. Paola Hernandez, Michaela Paige and Delise Batiza continue to dominate their events at every meet so far this season."
MEN
Bakersfield defeated Fresno Pacific 194-89.
Alex Kotliarsky (R-Sr. Denver, Colo., Indiana Univ.) won two individual events and was part of the 200 free and 400 medley relays. Kotliarsky took home first place in the 500 (4:38.02), and 1000 (9:43.04) freestyle races. He was a member of the 200 free relay that finished first and was second in the 50 free (:22.07).
Jordan Singleton (R-Sr. Mission Hills, Calif., Ventura College) was victorious in the 100 (:53.19) and 200 backstroke (1:57.52) events. He was also part of the 200 free relay that was first and was on the 400 medley relay that took the victory.
Fran Cverle (Sr. Zagreb, Croatia, Limestone College) was the winner of the 100 free (:47.62) and also swam a leg on both winning relays.
Mitchell Huxhold (Jr., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) won two events; the 200 free (1:41.36) and the 400 IM (4:26.37).
Tyler Greenwald (Fr., Henderson, Nev., Coronado HS) won both the 1 meter (268.75) and 3 meter (255.90) diving events.
"We swam better today for the win but we still have a lot of work to do," Hansen said. "Our guys need to learn how to swim smart tired."
The Roadrunners are at the Arena Invitational Nov. 21-23 in Monterey Park.
