STOCKTON, Calif.--Mitchell Huxhold (Jr., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) won two individual events for the second consecutive week, but Bakersfield dropped a 148-114 decision to Pacific in a men's swimming dual Saturday.
Huxhold won the 1000 free in a time of 9:25.63 and earn the top spot in the 500 free by posting a 4:33.59 performance.
Alex Kotliarsky (R-Sr. Denver, Colo., Indiana Univ.) also won two events. Kotliarsky earned the duke in the 100 free by swimming :46.56. He later won the 200 free by going 1:41.13.
Piankhi Gibson (So., Oakland, Calif., Auburn) won the 50 free by edging out teammate Fran Cverle (Sr., Zagreb, Croatia, Limestone College). Gibson swam :21.52 compared to :21.69 for Cverle.
Koltliarsky, Louis Wojciechowski (So. La Crescenta, Calif., North Carolina State), Gabriel Bertrand (Jr. Tibro, Sweden, Nykopingssimg Gymnasium), and Cverle won the 400 free relay in a time of 3:06.25.
Carson May (So. Corvina, Calif., Damien HS) finished second in the 500 free (4:39.09) and the 1000 free (9:35.65). Tomas Bruce (Sr, Brisbane/QLD, Australia, Grossmont College) placed second in the 200 IM (1:56.46).
"We just plain looked tired," said Bakersfield director of swimming and diving Chris Hansen. "We have a few folks that need to step up to the plate or we will not take off this year. Again, Huxhold and Kotliarsky came to play. We also had some big swims from Tom Bruce in the 200 IM, Gabriel Bertrand in the 500 free and Piankhi Gibson in the 100 fly. The breast and Back events are killing us but we will work on it and come back to crush Pacific at the arena classic! We are all disappointed!"
The Roadrunners are at Fresno Pacific next Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
