'Runners Shoot Low, But Fall To Cal St. Northridge

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -Playing in its first home dual match of the season, the CSU Bakersfield women's golf team fell to Cal State Northridge in a close battle on Tuesday, 335-348, at Bakersfield Country Club.

Cal State Northridge's Margo Dionisio took the individual crown by scoring a 6-over 80, just edging Roadrunner sophomore Malea Miller (Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College, Frontier HS) by one stroke. Miller shot a 42 on the front nine and then trimmed three strokes off her score on the back nine with a 39 to finish with an 81.

CSUB freshman Lauren Holbrook (Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) tied for third place with Matador Jennel Alexander as both shot 83s. Freshman Micah Lopez (Bakersfield, Calif., East Bakersfield, Calif.) placed seventh with a 91 and senior Vanessa Boileau (Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) tied for eighth with a 93.

The Roadrunners will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Cal Poly.
