Kitabatake Takes Third at Kalispel Invite

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Cal State Bakersfield golf team climbed three spots during the final round to finish sixth at the Kalispel Invitational Tuesday at Kalispel Golf & Country Club.

The Roadrunners finished with a 54-hole team score of 890 (+26), carding rounds of 302, 297, and 291 during the 14-team tournament. CSUB moved from ninth to sixth during Tuesday's final round.

Junior Sahya Kitabatake led the `Runners, tying for third individually at 1-under-par 215. Kitabatake's finish was the highest placement by a `Runner in a tournament of that size since Tori Peers placed third at the 2018 GCU Spring Invite. Kitabatake's 215 also tied for the fourth-best 54-hole tournament score in program history.

Fiona Clancy and freshman Melay Dittrich tied for 23rd at 7-over 223. Ashlee Kresha tied for 50th at 14-over 230 while Rena Kaneko rounded out the CSUB lineup in a tie for 59th at 17-over 233.

The Kalispel Invitational featured 54 holes over two days at the par-72, 6,037-yard Kalispel Golf & Country Club. The event featured 14 teams and 81 players.

The `Runners will return to action Oct. 25-27 at the Clash at Boulder Creek in Bakersfield's final tournament of the Fall.
