Five In Double Figures Lead CSUB Past NAU 86-77

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kristine Herman (R-Sr., San Ramon, Calif., Florida Gulf Coast) led five CSUB players in double figures as the Roadrunners (6-21) defeated Northern Arizona (8-19) in women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at the Icardo Center.

Herman posted her third double-double of the season as the 5-11 forward scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Lauren Carter (R-Jr., Moorpark, Calif., Moorpark HS) charted 19 points while Brooklyn Hinkens (Fr., Lake Tapps, Wash., Auburn-Riverside HS) had 14 with Ciarra Ford (Jr., Long Beach, Calif., Mt. Sac College) adding 11. Amber Williams (Jr., Fontana, Calif., Eitwanda HS) rounded out the double figure scorers with 10. Khrya Conerly led the Lumberjacks as she tallied 24 points.

CSUB reset the school Division I record for most made free throws (32) and most free throws attempted (40) in a game. The Roadrunners connected on 21-of-25 attempts in the second half as Northern Arizona committed 32 fouls in the contest. Herman went 8-of-9 from the charity stripe while Hinkens was 6-of-6. Sunday's game was CSUB's annual Play 4Kay game to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

“The team played strong in both halves today,” said CSUB head coach Greg McCall. “There were some up and down moments in the game, but we hung tough and played hard. We got a bunch of solid performances from a bunch of different people and we did a better job defensively today.”
