BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Jeanette Dove (Jr., Fontana, Calif., UC Santa Cruz), Michaela Paige (Fr., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS), Ali Gillespie (So., Huntington Beach, Calif., Oregon State), Nicolette Goncalves (Fr., Mississauga, Ontario, Erindale Secondary School), and Jordan Reed (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) each won two events as CSU Bakersfield defeated Fresno Pacific 171-100 Saturday afternoon.
Dove, Jodi Hanson (R-Sr., Modesto, Calif., Johansen HS), Goncalves, and Gillespie comprised the Roadrunner 400 medley relay that was won the race in a tie of 3:59.08. Dove earned the duke in the 100 back (:59.92) and finished second in the 200 back. Paige won the 100 (:53.46) and 200 free (1:53.50) races. In nine races this season, Paige has won six times.
Gillespie won the 500 free (5:11.42) and was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.32). Goncalves earned the victory in the 100 butterfly (:58.42). Reed swept both diving events winning the 1m and 3m events. Reed has now won five of six diving events in which she has entered this season.
The Roadrunners won 10 of the first 12 swimming races in addition to Reed's diving performances. This resulted in CSUB not scoring in the final two swimming races for the final 71-point margin of victory. The Roadrunners improved to 3-0 in dual competition with the victory over the Sunbirds.
"We concentrated on off events this week to determine our lineup at the (Nov. 15-17) Arena Invitational)", said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. "Michaela and Ali came up with big swims. Ali showed her verstality with her outstanding performances in multiple events."
CSUB is off until the Arena Invitational which is hosted by UC San Diego at Long Beach's Belmond Olympic Pool. Prelims are set for 9 a.m. each day with finals at 6 p.m. each night.
