Pacific Sweeps CSUB In Softball Doubleheader

STOCKTON, Calif.--Pacific (12-6) swept a softball doubleheader from CSUB (6-14) Mar. 12 at Bill Simoni Field.

The Tigers defeated the Roadrunners 10-9 in 10 innings to begin the day.

Sarah Hoag (Fr., Salinas, Calif., Monterey HS) cleared the bases with a double in the top of the second to give the Roadrunners a 3-1 lead. The Tigers tied the score at three and took a 5-3 lead in the fourth. Stefanie Frei (Sr., Valencia, Calif., Canyon HS) tied the score in the sixth with her first home run of the season. Pacific took the lead back in the bottom of the sixth when Nikki Armogost and Amy Moore had a pair of singles that plated runs.

For the second time in the game, the Roadrunners got a bases clearing double that put CSUB into the lead. Amy Ricciardi (Fr., Chino Hills, Calif.) turned the feat to make it 8-7. Frei's single scored Ricciardi to give the Roadrunners a two-run lead. Armogost's single in the bottom of the seventh capped off a Pacific rally and tied the score. Kelsey Rodriguez's single in the bottom of the 10th drove in Megan Allen for the gamewinning run. Ricciardi and Frei both had two hits.

Pacific shutout the Roadrunners 11-0 in the nightcap. The Tigers used an eight run fourth inning to put the game away. Armagost limited CSUB to four hits in the contest.

The Roadrunners open a six-game homestand next Sunday when CSUB hosts UC Riverside in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
