Irvine, Calif.-CSUB dropped a pair of contests to nationally ranked water polo opponents on the final day of the UC Irvine Invitational Feb 27.

The Roadrunners (3-13) lost 12-5 to No. 13 Cal State Northridge in Sunday's first match. CSUB trailed 7-5 after three periods, but the Matadors scored five unaswered goals in the last stanza for the final seven goal margin.

Bianca Adams (Fr. Ontario, Calif., St. Lucy's Priory HS), Mali Pahoa (Jr., Lake Elsinore, Calif., Temescal Canyon HS), Jessica Browning (So., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS), Sam Shead (So., Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS), and Taylor Hanson (Fr., Modesto, Calif., Johansen HS) scored for the Roadrunners. Megan Pezzolla (So., Upland, Calif., Bonita HS) made 10 saves.

In the final match of the tournament, No. 18 UC San Diego defeated CSUB 13-10. The Roadrunners trailed 8-7 after three quarters but the Tritons used a 5-3 fourth quarter to earn the victory.

Browning and Shead each posted three goals while Pahoa tallied two. Adams and Hanson scored the other goals for CSUB. Pezzolla charted 10 saves.

The Roadrunners return to the pool Mar. 5 for matches against Pomona Pitzer and Whittier at Cal Lutherand beginning at 10:30 a.m.
