LA JOLLA, Calif. — The CSUB water polo team dropped its opening pair of games at the UCSD Triton Invitational Saturday, falling in a tough loss to Cal State Northridge 13–11 before coming up flat in a 21–8 loss to WWPA foe Cal State East Bay.

Freshman driver Taylor Hanson (Modesto/Johansen HS) led CSUB with six goals on the day, including five in the heart–breaker versus Northridge. Fellow freshman Bianca Adams (Ontario/St. Lucy's Priory) added four goals, scoring two in each game.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Pezzolla (Ontario/Bonita HS) kept CSUB in the first game with 11 blocks.

The Roadrunners led Northridge late, 11–10, before the Matadors scored three goals in the final three minutes to come from behind for the win. East Bay, meanwhile, blew open a close game with seven goals in each of the second and third quarters and rolled to the win.

CSUB returns to action Sunday morning against Marist at 9:30 a.m. They will conclude tournament play Sunday afternoon.
