OGDEN, Utah--Weber State (2-8) defeated CSU Bakersfield (3-8) 85-72 in the Dee Events Center Saturday afternon.

Weber State made six of its first nine three-point field goal attempts and would lead 40-28 at halftime. Weber State led by 21 with 13:35 to go in the second half before a CSUB make a charge that would cut the lead to six with just over 3:42 remaining, That would be as close as the Roadrunners would get as the Wildcats would outscore the Roadrunners 16-9  down the stretch for the final 13-point margin.

Amber Williams (Jr., Fontana, Calif., Etiwanda HS) led CSUB with 22 points. The 5-6 guard is now 51 points away from 1,000 in her career. Lauren Carter (R-Jr., Moorpark, Calif., Moorpark HS) recorded her first career double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. The 20 and 11 are career highs for the 6-1 forward. Kristine Herman (R-Sr., San Ramon, Calif., Florida Gulf Coast) scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the 'Runners.

"We tried to use our zone in the first half and Weber State (was able to take advantage) in the first half," said CSUB head coach Greg McCall. "We switched to our man-to-man, and started to press to speed up the game and that's what got us back into it. Unfortuntately, we made a couple of mistakes that down the stretch and couldn't take advantage of a couple of Weber State turnovers in the final minutes to get over the hump. We forced 21 turnovers and played hard, I'm proud of our team."

CSUB hosts Pac 12 member Oregon State Tuesday night beginning at 7 p.m.
