CSUB Water Polo Signs Niki De Leon To NLI

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—CSU Bakersfield head water polo coach Jason Gall has announced the signing of Niki De Leon to a National Letter of Intent to continue her playing career in 2013 for the Roadrunners.

De Leon, a driver from Montebello, Calif., has been a member of four JO Championship teams with her club team Commerce, including the summer of 2009 when her team won 16U Junior Olympics when she was named first team All-American. De Leon has participated in eight Junior Olympics with Commerce. She is a two time recipient of the Maureen O'Toole award at the Speedo Cup. De Leon has been selected to the USA National training team for her age group, in 2008, 2009, and 2010. She has been a four-year starter for Montebello High School. Montebello was the DII CIF runner up in 2009 during her freshman year.

“Niki comes to us with an incredible amount of experience and success,” Gall said. “She has been a year-round club player for eight years and has excelled both individually and with her teams. Niki will come into our program and have an immediate impact on our team. This is a great start to the recruiitng year and I am looking forward to adding a few more impact players to this recruiting class.”

CSUB opens the 2012 season Jan. 28-29 at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational.
