SANTA BARBARA, Calif--CSUB wrapped up action at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational by defeating Concordia-Irvine and losing 15-4 to No. 7 Michigan Sunday afternoon. The Roadrunners went 2-2 during the tournament.

CSUB defeated Concordia-Irvine 16-7 in Sunday's opening match. Sam Shead (So. Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS) and Tammy Barksdale (Sr. Atascadero, Calif., Cuesta College) each posted three goals. Bianca Adams (Fr. Ontario, Calif., St. Lucy's Priory HS), Malia Pahoa (Jr. Lake Elsinore, Calif., Temescal Canyon HS), and Jessica Browning (So., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS) added to the CSUB attach by scoring two goals apiece.  Brittani Marquez (So. Visalia, Calif., El Diamante HS) scored a goal and drew three ejections.

Megan Pezzolla (So. Upland, Calif., Bonita HS) started the match in goal and had six saves and made three steals. Chiyeko Morisaki (Fr., Lodi, Calif., Tokay HS) relieved Pezzola in the fourth quarter and recorded two saves.

"The team played well against Concordia," said CSUB Head Coach Jason Gall. "We did some nice things on offense. Our counter attack (fast break) is beginning to create goals for us."

No. 7 Michigan defeated CSUB 15-4 to conclude the tournament. The Roadrunners had several chances, drawing 15 ejections, but were only able to score off of two. CSUB could only convert on four of 25 shot attempts.

Pahoa scored twice for CSUB. Amanda Nesbit (So., Chino Hills, Calif., Chino Hills HS) and Taylor Hanson (Fr., Modesto, Calif., Johansen HS) were able to hit the back of the net for the Roadrunners. Pezzolla made six saves and three steals in goal.

"We did a great job creating opportunities on offense, we just couldn't find the back of the net," Gall said. "Many of (Michigan's) goals came off our missed shots. We're going in the right direction and we know what we need to work on over the next two weeks to get ready for the UC San Diego Tournament."

The Roadrunners return to the pool Feb. 12-13 at the UC San Diego Tournament.
