SEATTLE, Wash. – After a first half that CSU Bakersfield might prefer to forget, the Roadrunners dominated second-half action and scored two late goals to come from behind and knock off Sacramento State 2-1 at Championship Field on the first day of Seattle University's Redhawk Invitational on Friday.

The win lifted CSUB's record to 3-3-3 overall on the season after starting the season 1-2-2.

CSUB fell behind in the first 15 minutes and felt the pressure from a Hornet squad that was also looking to even its season record. Things looked good for Sacramento State to do just that in the 13th minute when Elece McBride found Megan Burg on a cross that was sent into the right corner of the goal for an early 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners continued to sustain wave after wave of Sacramento State attack in the first half but did not allow any more goals despite being outshot 8-2 in the first 45 minutes.

But things turned around in the final half-hour for CSUB. Sacramento State opened the half with three quick shots, but the Roadrunners completely controlled the last 30 minutes, outshooting Sacramento State 8-1 and finally breaking through for two goals. The tying goal came on a cross from Kassi Massey to Tyler Shirk who scored her team-leading third goal of the season, and then Leanne Tucker converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute for the gamewinner.

Incredibly, it is the first time that CSUB has scored more than one goal in a match this season. But if history is any indication, the Roadrunners should shoot for two goals every match. Dating back to the 2005 season, CSUB is 23-1-0 when scoring two or more goals in a match.

Roadrunner goalkeeper Kym Gause made one save in the win.

CSUB remains in the Pacific Northwest until Sunday when it completes action in the Redhawk Invitational against Idaho at 11 a.m.
