FRESNO,
Calif. - Freshman middle
blocker Chelcy Motes (Thatcher,
Ariz./Thatcher HS) collected her first piece of collegiate hardware,
earning all-tournament honors as the CSUB volleyball team concluded play at the
Fresno State Tournament with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 loss to the host Bulldogs
Saturday night in the Save Mart Center.
Motes
finished the weekend with 11 blocks, including six in the tournament finale
versus Fresno State.
Fresno
State jumped out to early leads in all three sets and the Roadrunners never
could catch up in any of them.
In
addition to Motes, junior outside hitter Lindy
DeGeare (Stockdale HS) led CSUB with nine kills. Junior setter Danielle Gong (Stockdale HS) added a
career-high seven blocks.
CSUB
closes out its five-match road trip with a visit to Big West contender Cal Poly
Sunday afternoon. The 'Runners return home to host 26th ranked Saint
Mary's College Friday in the Icardo Center.
