Robinson To Bolster Frontline In 2010-11

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The CSUB men's basketball team continued to bolster its frontline depth and talent pool with the addition of forward De'Aundray Robinson from National College Prep High School in Northridge. Robinson joins the team as a 6–5, 210 freshman.

“We're excited to have De'Aundray after he led National to such a strong season,” says CSUB Head Coach Keith Brown. Under the guidance of Head Coach Bill Hankins, National College Prep defeated junior college powers Odessa (Texas) and Western Texas as part of a 27–5 campaign in 2009–10.

“De'Aundray is wiry, strong and versatile,” says Brown. “Defensively, he can guard multiple positions, both inside and on the perimeter, which we value highly. Offensively, he can attack bigger players off the bounce while his length creates matchup problems for smaller defenders.”

Robinson averaged 19 points, 12 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game last season. His individual game highs were 27 points, 22 rebounds and 11 blocks.

A native of Baton Rouge, La., Robinson played his high school ball at McKinley High. As a senior, he averaged 15.3 points, 13.0 rebounds and five blocks per game while earning first team All–District 7–4A honors as the district's defensive MVP. At McKinley, he considered offers from Arkansas State, Stephen F. Austin and Southern University before choosing National College Prep last season.

“Coach (John) Mosley did an excellent job establishing the relationship with De'Aundray and Coach Hankins at National,” says Brown. “We're excited to have De'Aundray on board and look forward to seeing him on the court for the next four years. Playing for such a respected prep school program, De'Aundray has already played against a higher level of competition than most freshman,” adds Brown. “He has the potential to do many things at a high level, and we really like his length, his rebounding and his defensive versatility.”

Robinson is the fifth member of CSUB's 2011 recruiting class. Earlier this signing period, CSUB signed big man Kregg Jones from the Army–Navy Academy in San Diego, guard Cody Kale from Rocklin High School, combo guard Ivan Matip from Besant Hill School in Ojai and Odessa College power forward Rashad Savage.
