LOS ANGELES – Sophomore Malia Pahoa scored two goals Saturday for the No. 19 water polo team but the Roadrunners fell to the top–ranked USC Trojans, 18–4, at McDonald's Swim Stadium. CSUB is now 13–17 while USC improved to 16–1.
Senior Becky Seelos scored CSUB's first goal in the first quarter and classmate Alyson Moss scored in the second quarter. Pahoa's two goals came in the third and fourth quarter. In goal, freshman Megan Pezzolla had eight saves.
USC jumped to an early 7–1 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 13–2 by halftime. The Roadrunners held the Trojans to just two goals in the third quarter and three in the fourth.
CSUB heads north to the Bronco Invitational hosted by WWPA member Santa Clara on Saturday, Apr. 10. On Saturday, the 'Runners take on WWPA member Sonoma State and San Jose State. On Sunday, the Roadrunners play a pair of important conference matches, taking on Cal State San Bernardino and host Santa Clara.
