CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Alex Haver took the high jump title Saturday at the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif., as the Roadrunner track and field teams competed in their first away outdoor meet of the season. Haver cleared 6-feet 2-inches to win the title as the competing teams battled wet and windy weather conditions.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team took second overall (42.84) and junior Derek Kasselstrand was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 161-01. Other top-10 finishes for the Roadrunner men included freshman Seth Valch taking fifth in the long jump (19-09.5), the 4x1,600 relay placing sixth (18:08.37), freshman Alex Williams taking seventh in the 110 hurdles (16.44), freshman Collin Ellis in eighth in the shot put (42-09.00), sophomore Adrian McCullum placing eighth in the 100 (11.70) and the 4x800 relay taking ninth (8:13.92). Due to a timing malfunction, the first heat of the 100 meter dash, which included CSUB juniors Michael davis and Ryan Nichols, were not able to record times and places.
Junior Jenah Kincaid grabbed a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (67.80) to lead the women. All three relays placed in the top four as the 4x100 was third (50.60) and the 4x400 and 4x800 teams each took fourth. Freshman Julia Fitch cleared 4-09.75 to finish fourth in the high jump and junior Casey Glassey was sixth in the 3,000 meters (11:04.02). The 4x1,600 relay team was seventh in 22:28.19.
"We battles some really tough weather Saturday," said Head Coach Alan Collatz. "The rain was really coming down the entire day. We were very concerned with making sure no one got hurt out there and we were happy to have everyone come home healthy. All our attention is now focused on Northridge."
