HOUSTON — Stephanie Donnelly and Rachel McCall each improved a personal best time and moved up a spot in the school record book for the CSUB women's swimming and diving team on the final night of competition at the 2010 Conference USA Championships.
Donnelly placed third in the consolation finals, and 11th overall, in the 200 back in a personal best time of 2:03.54. That mark moves the junior up to No. 2 in the Roadrunner all-time record book. In the 100 free, McCall placed fifth in the championship finals in a personal best time of 50.46, also moving her into the No. 2 spot in the CSUB record book.
The Roadrunners also scored numerous additional personal best marks on their way to finishing in a tie for sixth in the team standings with 277 points.
“We were a part of this meet this year, which we couldn't say in the past two years,” said Head Coach Pat Skehan. “We were much more competitive and got a lot of great experience which will help us so much next year (when we are postseason eligible).”
In the women's platform diving, Victoria Kreutz earned a berth in the finals with a preliminary score of 173.50. In the finals session, she held her place, finishing fifth with a score of 177.50.
In the 100 free, Louise Westergren recorded a personal best 51.68 to place third in the consolation finals and 11th overall. A trio of Roadrunners shaved time in the 1,650 free, let by Renee Roy's finish in 18:27.91. Freshman Olivia Ramos finished in 18:35.42 and Macie Hammond cut nearly 20 seconds, finishing in 18:46.02.
