Sivec's 2 Gold Medals Highlight Big West Championships

HOUSTON – The Cal State Bakersfield swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2025 Big West Championships on Saturday night with a strong set of final performances. Over the course of the conference meet, the Roadrunners earned nine medals, including two golds from junior Vili Sivec, reset seven program records, and earned 18 All-Conference honors.

Day 4 Recap

Vili Sivec has now swept gold medals in the 100 Fly and 200 Fly in each of the last two conference championships, closing out Saturday's action with a dominant victory in the 200 Fly. Two other `Runners added to the medal count on the final day of the meet as Jessica Franco placed second in the 1650 Free and Dyson Modica finished runner-up in platform diving.

Junior Vili Sivec earned back-to-back gold medals in the 100 Fly, resetting the CSUB and Big West records in the process. The `Runner women tallied fourth All-Conference honors on the day, including a pair from sophomore Josiane Hill, who finished Top 8 in both the 100 Fly and 100 Back.

Day 2 Recap

Vili Sivec's leadoff of the men's 200 free relay shattered his own 50 free record. The `Runner relay earned bronze, one of four bronzes won on the day. Sivec placed third in the individual 50 free earlier in the evening. Diver Dyson Modica earned bronze for the second-straight day, this time on the 3-meter board. Jessica Franco got the first medal of the meet for the `Runner women, taking third in the 500 free.

Day 1 Recap

In the final race of the opening night of the Championships, Vili Sivec did what Vili Sivec does. The junior `Runner helped the men's 800 free relay team with the fastest 200 free leadoff leg of the night (1:33.48), resetting his own CSUB record while breaking the Big West Championships record in the process.

Senior diver Dyson Modica also showed out on Wednesday, posting a strong score on the way to his first-ever conference medal with a third-place finish on the 1-meter board.

Senior Jessica Franco impressed on the women's side, dropping over 1.5 seconds off her personal best in the 200 free during her leadoff leg of the CSUB 800 free relay.
