Track and Field Records Seven Season-Best Marks in Final Indoor Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The CSUB men's and women's track and field teams set seven season–best marks Saturday at the NAU Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University at the J.L. Walkup Skydome. This was the Roadrunners' final indoor meet of the season and will begin outdoor competition next weekend.

Senior Clayton Morovich finished his indoor career with a season-best toss of 58–09.25 in the weight throw to place fifth overall. Classmate Derek Kasselstrand was sixth in the same event with a mark of 57-09.00. Also capturing a fifth place finish was senior Ryan Lucker in the mile run. Classmate Edward Lee was eighth with a season–low time of 4:37.57. Junior Jose Lopez also ran a season–best time of 4:43.85 to finish 11th in the same race. In the 800 meter run, Daniel Hernandez's time of 2:03.95 was a season–best time and junior Brandon Washington was 14th in the 200 meters with a season–low time of 23.64.

The top women's individual performance was turned in by junior Casey Glassey who placed fourth overall in the 3,000 meters in 11:36. Finishing seventh in the same race was freshman Johanna Montes who had a season–best time of 12:36.19. Also scoring a top–10 finish was junior Arianna Celis who was seventh overall in the mile (5:37.32). Freshman Brushay Wandick ran a season–best time of 7.99 in the finals of the 60 meter dash after qualifying with an 8.04. Senior Sheena Cooper also qualified in the 60 with a time of 7.84 but did not run in the finals. Wandick followed up her 60 with a season–best 200 meter time of 26.96.

Up next, the Roadrunners' outdoor season begins with the Lee Adams Open at the CSUB track on Saturday, Feb. 20.
