Roadrunners Remain Unbeaten

EUGENE, Ore. – The CSUB women's basketball team continued its record–setting start, as it topped the University of Oregon, 82–78, on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten.

The battle between two undefeated teams proved to be as good as expected, as the game was close throughout. CSUB (6–0) and Oregon (4–1) went basket–for–basket in the first half, as neither team led by more than three points through the first ten minutes. The Roadrunners gained an eight–point lead, by way of a 9–2 run, with four minutes remaining in the half however Oregon countered with a 7–2 run of its own, cutting the 'Runners lead to one heading into halftime (34–33).

Oregon came out of the break flying, as it scored eight unanswered points to start the second half. It appeared the Ducks were in cruise control, leading by 16–points with a little under 12 minutes remaining however the Roadrunners never gave up. Behind a double–double from senior center Tamiko Davis (Sacramento, Calif./San Jose State) (10 points, 12 rebounds) and a team–leading 18–points from sophomore guard Amber Williams (Fontana, Calif./Etiwanda HS), the 'Runners rallied to take the lead in the final seven minutes and never let it go, securing their sixth consecutive win of the season.

Senior guard Britney McGee (Bakersfield, Calif./Univ. of Albany) finished the night with 16 points and seven rebounds while junior guard Kristine Herman (San Ramon, Calif./Florida Gulf Coast) went 5–6 from behind the arc to finish with 15–points.

The Roadrunners stay in Eugene to play their final game of the Oregon Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 28, as they take on the University of Idaho. Tip–off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
