SEATTLE
- The CSUB volleyball team
couldn't hold on to a two sets to one lead Friday night, falling in five at
Seattle University 25-12, 25-27, 22-25, 25-20, 15-9 in the Connolly Center.
After
Seattle raced to an easy win in the first set, the Roadrunners battled through
12 ties and five lead changes to take the second. CSUB won the third set a bit
more routinely and led 12-10 in the fourth when Seattle began its comeback.
The
Redhawks out-scored CSUB 15-8 to close the fourth set and even the match. The
fifth set was tied at 7-7 before another late Seattle run, this time of the 8-2
variety, sealed the deal.
Both
teams featured three attackers with double figure kills. Junior Lindy DeGeare (Stockdale HS) led CSUB
with 15. Freshman Haleigh Haratyk
(Corona/Centennial HS) added 13 while sophomore Tika Smith (Sweetwater [TX] HS) chipped in 10. Junior setter Danielle Gong (Stockdale HS)
contributed a 46-assist, 10-dig double-double.
CSUB
and Seattle will conclude their 2010 seasons with a rematch Saturday.
