FULLERTON, Calif. -– Joey Granata and Riley Orozco earned major decisions and No. 14 Elijah Nacita broke open a close match with a pin, leading the CSUB wrestling team to a 26-12 win over Pac-10 rival Cal State Fullerton Friday at Titan Gym.

The dual victory was the Roadrunners' first of the season, moving their record to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

Granata opened the evening's match with a 9-0 major decision over Blake Ginsburg at 165 lbs. The junior from Oceanside scored one takedown in each period, and added three additional points by way of an escape, a penalty point and riding time.

Todd Noel took the 174-pound out over CSUB's Trevor Hall, 6-2, but the Roadrunners then scored three consecutive wins to push their team lead to 14-3. At 184 lbs., Mike Larson broke a 3-3 tie by earning the riding time point over Mark Savalle. Riley Orozco followed with a dominating 16-5 major decision over Ethan Weisrock at 197 lbs. Orozco was the aggressor throughout the bout, scoring seven takedowns along with an escape and riding time.

No. 14 Mitch Monteiro won a 6-2 decision over Kurt Klimek int he heavyweight bout, but 125-pounder Andre Gonzalez pinned CSUB's Frank Lomas at 125 lbs. and Armando Gonzalez scored a 6-3 decision over Justin Durham at 133 lbs. to cut the Roadrunner lead to 14-12.

That was as close as the Titans would get, however, as Nacita pushed the spread back to eight with a first-period pin of Eddie Garcia at 141 lbs. John Cardenas followed with a 4-1 decision over Mario DeCaro at 149 lbs. and Andrew Balch wrapped things up with a 5-3 decision over Steven de la Fuente at 157 lbs.

The Roadrunners continue on the road next week, traveling to Corvallis, Ore., to take on Pac-10 opponent Oregon State on Jan. 17 at 2 p.m.
