IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 18 ranked CSUB water polo team fell to the No. 9 ranked UC Irvine Anteaters Friday evening in Irvine, Calif. Amanda Ortiz scored three goals as CSUB dropped to 10-8 on the season.

Ortiz scored the first goal of the game before the Eaters established a 4-2 lead midway through the second. In the third, CSUB would get as close as 10-6 before Irvine closed the game out by scoring four of the final seven goals. Petra Koudelkova drew three ejections, two of which resulted in penalty shots that Ortiz converted. Becky Seelos also drew three ejections for the 'Runners. Freshman Megan Wetherbee got the nod in net for CSUB. She was relieved briefly in the second by Veronica Campbell but returned to play the third and fourth quarters.

"We played much better than we did last weekend," Head Coach Jason Gall said. "We had some good goals tonight against a quailty opponent which will help. The team had a good week of practice and we definitely saw some improvement from last weekend."

CSUB will head to the Loyola Marymount Invitational for four more contests this weekend. The 'Runners will face No. 19 Indiana and Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday followed by Princeton and No. 11 Cal State Northridge on Sunday.
