No. 17 CSUB Wins Twice in Opening Day of Home Invitational

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? The No. 17 CSUB water polo team opened day one of the Roadrunner Water Polo Invitational with a pair of wins Saturday at the Hillman Aquatics Center. The ?Runners defeated WWPA rivals Cal State East Bay in the first game, 10?7, and came back in the afternoon session to beat Cal Lutheran, 10?6. The two wins move the Roadrunners' record to 8?3 on the season.

In the first game, Amanda Ortiz scored four goals while Alyson Moss and Petra Koudelkova added two each. The ?Runners never trailed as they defeated their league rivals to move to 2-0 in WWPA action.

Against Cal Lutheran, CSUB jumped out early as Ortiz scored two first quarter goals and Becky Seelos and Koudelkova each tallied one to give the ?Runners a 4?0 lead after the first quarter. Moss added a goal in the second to make the half time score 5-0 in favor of the ?Runners. Kaitlin Torres would score a goal in each of the final quarters as the ?Runners won, 10-6.

Action from day two of the Roadrunner Invitational begins at 8 a.m. tomorrow as Colorado State takes on Cal State Monterey Bay. The ?Runners have a tough test against No. 7 UC Davis at 9:15 before playing Monterey Bay at 12:15 p.m.
