Kreutz Places 8th At Canadian Nationals

 

CALGARY, Alberta ? CSUB diver Victoria Kreutz, a Hillcrest, Canada, native placed eighth in the one-meter springboard Friday at the 2009 Canadian Winter Senior National Championships.

Kreutz, a junior on the CSUB swim team, scored a personal best 237.05 in five dives on her way to securing the eighth place spot.

Jennifer Able, a 2008 Canadian Olympian, placed first with a score of 273.10, followed by Angelina Kroupko in second (261.45) and Mandy Moran in third (253.50).

“Victoria dove really well today,” said diving coach Cliff Johansen. “She was consistent with every dive and earned her best score of the season, which is always good to see against top competition.”

In the preliminaries, Kreutz placed 11th out of 26 divers, earning a score of 219.05. The top 12 finishers in the preliminary round advanced to the finals.

Kreutz will compete in the three-meter springboard event Saturday. The preliminary round begins at 10 a.m. local time and the finals follow at 1:50 p.m. Live results can be found online at www.diving.ca.
