Cliff Johansen began his second year as the CSUB men’s and women’s diving coach in 2009-10. Johansen, a standout diver for the Roadrunners from 1994-97, takes over for his former coach, Larry Everingham, who retired from the position after 18 years on the CSUB pool deck.

Johansen dove for Golden West College in 1992, earning ninth place at the California Community College State Championships. He then transferred to CSUB where he was a nine-time NCAA Division II All-American under the tutelage of Everingham.

Since graduating from CSUB with a bachelor’s in fine art and sculpture, Johansen has worked as the head diving coach for Fountain Valley High School, Huntington Beach High School and the Bakersfield Cliff Divers AAU team. Most recently, he served as the head diving coach for the Kern County High School District, and is also a teacher of ceramics and commercial art at Ridgeview High School.
