BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Victoria Kreutz won a pair of diving events and Rachel McCall took first in the 100 free, but the San Jose State Spartans held off the CSUB women's swim team in a 166.5-109.5 final dual score Saturday at the Hillman Aquatics Center.
Kreutz, a junior, scored a season-high 273.15 points in the 1-meter springboard event and 278.63 in the 3-meter event to place first over teammate Hannah Yoder and Spartan divers Jo Thibodaux and Jessica Holden.
McCall, meanwhile, swam a 54.87 in the 100 free, outstretching San Jose's Daphine Yeung who placed second in 55.28. The freshman from Calgary, Canada also placed second in the 100 breast in a time of 1:09.67.
The Roadrunners also got a first place finish from Tessa Brown, who won the 200 breast in a time of 2:35.31. Macie Hammond recorded a season-best mark in the 1000 free, touching the wall at 12:12.07.
“We had good some good swims coming off a hard week of practice,” said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan. “Rachel did a good job in the 100 free and 100 breast and our medley relay team had one of its best times of the season in cold weather which is great.”
CSUB's 200 medley relay team of Stephanie Donnelly, McCall, Lexie Kelly and Veronica Campbell opened the meet with a 1:53.75 second place finish.
The CSUB divers head to Irvine Sunday to take part in the UC Irvine/Ayers Hotel Diving Invitational while the remainder of the ?Runner squad returns to the water Jan. 17 at 1 p.m., hosting Fresno State at the Hillman Aquatics Center.
