BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Senior Lexie Kelly and freshman Rachel McCall each won a trio of individual events as the CSUB women's swim team earned a 169-118 dual meet win over visiting Fresno State Saturday at the Hillman Aquatics Center.
Kelly was victorious in the 200 fly (2:14.46), the 200 breast (2:31.80) and the 200 individual medley (2:15.74), while McCall won the 100 breast (1:08.10), the 50 free (24.85) and the 100 free (54.09) to lead the Roadrunners.
“We swam well, we raced well and we beat a Division I opponent,” said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan. “We didn't rest or break from our regular training schedule to prepare for this meet, so it was impressive to get a lot of season-best times.”
The Roadrunners opened the meet with a tight win in the 200 yard medley relay. Stephanie Donnelly, McCall, Kelly and Veronica Campbell fought to a 1:53.02, first place finish, just ahead of Fresno State's second-place time of 1:53.65.
Renee Roy gave the ?Runners a win in the 1000 free, clocking a season-best time of 11:32.38. Freshman Macie Hammond also earned a season-best time in the event, finishing in 12:08.39.
Leah Felber won the 200 free in 1:59.81 and the 500 free in 5:25.63 while Donnelly was victorious in the 100 fly (1:01.65).
Victoria Kreutz and Hannah Yoder gave Bakersfield valuable points in the springboard diving events, going one-two off both the one and three-meter boards. Kreutz scored 259.45 in the one-meter event and 2:57.55 in the three meter event. Yoder scored 218.40 in the one-meter event and 194.40 on the three-meter event.
Bakersfield travels to San Jose State on Jan. 24 for a dual against the Spartans. The ?Runners have three total duals remaining on the schedule before closing out the year in Houston for the Conference USA Championships Feb. 25-28.
