LA JOLLA, Calif. ? Swimming in a tri-meet with UC San Diego and UC Davis, but only scoring against the UCSD Tritons, the CSUB men's swim team was once again led by its distance swimmers, but ultimately fell just short, 145-95 in team scoring.

“Without any divers we went in 36 points down, but I was very happy with the way we swam,” said Roadrunner Head Coach Chris Hansen. “Henry (Holmberg), Nathan (Vizcarra) and Bobby (Klagge) have stood out for us all weekend, and Bobby has really stepped up and become a great new addition.”

Holmberg went three-for-three for a third consecutive meet, winning the 1000 free in 9:47.68, the 500 free in 4:37.65 and the 200 fly in 1:59.67.

Vizcarra took second in the 1000 free at 10:03.55 and third in the 500 free at 4:51.85, while Klagge was third in the 1000 free at 10:05.18 and fifth in the 500 free at 4:59.98.

The ?Runner distance swimmers were not the only ones to find success Sunday in La Jolla, as Sampo Sissala, Chase Kreitler and Thomas Peart took first, second and fourth, respectively, in the 200 free. Sissala won the race in 1:45.17, followed by Kreitler in 1:46.94. Peart's fourth place time was 1:47.63, while he also won the 100 free in a time of 48.50.

Luka Leskur took the title in the 200 back in 1:55.32, while the CSUB 400 free relay team topped UCSD by nearly seven seconds.

Now 3-1 through four duals to open the season, the ?Runners turn their focus to the UCI Nike Cup on Nov. 20-22 in Long Beach, followed by the U.S. Short Course Nationals on Dec. 4-6.
