CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal State Bakersfield senior Alyssa Lewis crushed her own school record in the 3,000 steeplechase on the way to an impressive first-place finish at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.
Lewis won the event in 11:20.84, which obliterated her own old school record in the 3,000 steeplechase set last season of 11:43.85.
Full results from the meet are not yet available, but Head Coach Alan Collatz has passed along several other impressive marks from Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
Freshman Sheena Cooper won her heats in both the 100 and 200 meters in season-best times, crossing the finish line first in the 100 in 12.51 and 25.55 in the 200. Another freshman, Daniel Hernandez out of local Foothill High, won his heat in the 400 hurdles in a personal-best 57.92.
Also impressive for Bakersfield was Alicia Diaz, who finished the 1,500 meters in a season-best 4:53.92.
Bakersfield returns to action next weekend at the Azusa Meet of Champions and the Mount SAC Invitational.
