BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? It's still a fledgling NCAA Division I program, but the CSUB men's basketball team was looking for a signature win against a Pac?10 opponent when Oregon State visited Rabobank Arena Tuesday night. But the Beavers made it six-for-six in the Pac?10 versus Roadrunner men's basketball series with a 77-53 win.

Marcel Jones tallied 18 points to lead four players in double-figures to lead Oregon State (6-4 overall) to the win. Seth Tarver -- the cousin of CSUB women's basketball leading scorer Kelley Tarver -- had 12 points while Roeland Schaftenaar and Lathen Wallace added 11 apiece for the Beavers, who shot 48 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc. Oregon State also dominated the boards, earning a 49-37 edge.

Trent Blakley was the lone Roadrunner to reach double figures, putting up 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Junior forward C.J. Giles made his first appearance in an Oregon State uniform after playing the first two seasons of his career at Kansas. In six minutes of action, Giles had two points, two rebounds and a block before fouling out of the game.

The match-up was close for the first 10 minutes of the game before back-to-back triples by Jones and Schaftenaar gave the Beavers a 22-10 lead with 9:07 to go in the half.

With Bakersfield shooting 28 percent from the field, Oregon State closed out the half up 43-21. The Roadrunners got as close as 53-38 midway through the second half, but they shot a miserable 7-of-17 from the free throw line in the period, robbing themselves of several chances to cut the deficit even further.
OSU gradually built the lead back above 20 points and both teams cleared their benches down the stretch.

Tuesday's game concluded a four-game homestand for CSUB. The 'Runners will hit the road for three consecutive games, beginning Saturday night at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
