Kim Harper joins the Roadrunner coaching staff for her first year as an assistant coach in 2007. Although she is a new face on the ’Runner bench, she is a familiar face on the local volleyball scene after playing her high school ball in Bakersfield and coaching on the club and prep level in town for the last several seasons.

Harper played both volleyball and basketball at nearby Garces High School before earning scholarship to play both sports at Dominican University in San Rafael. She helped lead the Penguins to the 2000 California Pacific Conference title before transferring back to Bakersfield to play her sophomore season at Bakersfield College.

She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for both the varsity and junior varsity teams at Garces in 2002. She moved across town to Valley power Stockdale High School in 2006, helping the Mustangs reach the CIF Central Section championship match.

Since 2003, Harper’s coaching resume has included extensive experience with the highly?regarded Kern River Volleyball Club. She has coached at all levels of club volleyball, leading the KRVC 18’s to a 10th place finish at the Reno Festival in 2004 and guiding the 13’s Gold team to an 11th place finish at Reno in 2006.

In addition to her coaching duties, Harper is currently completing work on her bachelor’s degree in history at CSUB.
