A consummate team player, Janelle Mack made a seamless transition from Roadrunner team captain to assistant coach during the 2004–05 season. She returns to the bench for a third season in 2006–07.
Mack enjoyed a stellar two–year playing career as a Roadrunner. She specialized in doing the little things that helped the ’Runners post a 52–8 record over her two seasons wearing the blue and gold.
As a senior she led the team in rebounding at 8.7 rebounds per game and in blocked shots with 24. She finished her playing career ranked No. 2 on the Roadrunner rebounding list and as the school’s No. 3 shot blocker of all time.
Known more for her defensive prowess than as a scorer, Mack still reached double figures five times as a senior and enjoyed a career–high 23–point game in a win at UC Davis as a junior.
Before joining the CSUB program, Mack enjoyed two standout seasons at Lassen Community College. She was a two–time All–Golden Valley Conference selection for the Cougars, averaging a double–double (11.5 points, 11.4 rebounds) as a sophomore.
Mack began her career at Galena High School in Reno, Nev. She earned all–league honors while leading the Grizzlies to the Nevada State title in 2000.
Mack, who got her start in coaching leading the Bakersfield Heat club team, earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is working toward her MBA at CSUB.
