He has worked at several notable basketball camps during the off-season, including the University of Georgia Boy’s Basketball Camps, the Complete Player Basketball Camps and the Brent Barry Basketball Camp.

He recently earned his master’s degree in education at Concordia University in Irvine and he previously studied in the doctoral zoology program at Oregon State University.

While coaching at Orange Coast, Savage was a physical science teacher at Ensign Intermediate School in Newport Beach by day.
Savage and his wife, the former Mindy Wiblemo, married in August of 2003.
