Post-CSUB Accomplishments and Accolades:

  • Member of United States Men’s National Team (2014-2022)
  • Scored 14 goals across 68 caps with USMNT, including during 2018 World Cup qualification
  • Two-time MLS Cup Champion (2014, LA Galaxy; 2020, Columbus Crew)
  • Became just 13th player in MLS history to score 100 career goals (5/27/23)
  • Named 2018 MLS Comeback Player of the Year
  • Married fellow CSUB student-athlete alum Madie Goodvin; the couple have four children
2012 (R-JUNIOR): Selected as 1-of-42 players to the Hermann Trophy Watch List...named Third Team All-American by College Soccer News and Fourth Team All-American by CollegeSportsMadness.com…earned second-straight MPSF Offensive Player of the Year accolade...Reset the CSUB Division I single-season record for most points in a game (8) on another school record four goals against Seattle U…Through the end of the regular season, ranked Top 10 nationally in points (39), goals (15), and assists (9)…Finished with second-most single-season goals total in CSUB’s DI history, behind only himself…Reset his own record with 39 points on the season…Finished career second in CSUB all-time rankings in goals (38) and points (94).

2011 (R-SOPHOMORE): Named as 1-of-15 semifinalists for the 2011 Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy...named to Soccer America’s second team MVP...chosen third team Soccer News All-American and third team Continental Tires/NSCAA All-American...selected first team 2011 Continental Tires NSCAA Division I All-Far West Region as well...chosen 2011 MPSF Player of the Year, started 19 times, scoring 18 goals and posting two assists for 38 points...put half of his shot attempts on goal (55 of 110)...in the final NCAA Division I Statistical Report Zardes was fourth in goals, fourth in goals per game (.90), seventh in points, and eighth in points per game (1.90)...was featured in the Oct. 3 edition of Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd.

2010 (R-FRESHMAN): Named MPSF Newcomer of the Year as well as first team All-Conference...Selected to Soccer America’s All-Freshman second team...named third team NSCAA All-Far West Region...led team and ranked second in the MPSF in assists (6) and assists per game…ranked sixth in the conference in points (12) and points per game (0.71).

2009 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt at CSUB...CLUB: Led the LA Galaxy U-20 club team to the national championship game in Chicago during the Summer of 2010.

HIGH SCHOOL:  A first team All–Bay League performer for Leuzinger High School...led the league in goal scoring and was named MVP of the league’s all-star game...earned honor roll accolades as a senior...also played football and was listed as a top–30 kicker in California.

PERSONAL: Born Sept. 2, 1991...Son of Glen and Linda Zardes...a physical education and kinesiology major.
