Garces High School: Arguably the top freshman recruit in the history of CSUB men’s basketball, Stephon Carter joins the Roadrunners after earning three–consecutive Bakersfield Californian All–Area Player of the Year nods…Southeast Yosemite League Player of the Year in 2009 after averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game…a four–time first team All–SEYL selection…finished his career as one of only two players in CIF Central Section history to score more than 2,600 points…scored in double figures in all 26 games as a senior before an injury ended his season…scored 20+ points 15 times and topped 30 points five times in 2008–09…matched his season high of 37 points in January wins over Bakersfield and East Bakersfield…had 12 double–doubles last season, finishing with five in a row…had 30 points and a career–high 17 rebounds in a CIF Tournament win over Lemoore on Mar. 4…season–high 10 assists in a Dec. 26 win over Centennial…averaged 23.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a junior…opened his junior season by matching his career–high of 41 points in a win over Central (Fresno)…second career triple–double came with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists in a Feb. 15 win over Golden Valley…opened his sophomore season with his first career triple–double: a 22–point, 13–rebound, 10–assist effort in a win over Bakersfield Christian…finished the season averaging 23.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists…notched his first 40–point night with 41 in a rout of San Joaquin Memorial…came out of the gates running to start his prep career, scoring in double figures in all but two games as a freshman, averaging 19.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Personal: Carter is majoring in business administration with a minor in sports administration…played travel ball with the Elite Basketball Organization and Team Odom…is a native of Covina, Calif.…will celebrate his 19th birthday the day the Roadrunners play at Utah Valley University (Jan. 23).
