Biography
2006: The heart and soul of the Roadrunners in 2006, Richard Andrews proved to be that rare player who made his team better merely by his presence on the floor…though his 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game average weren’t eye–popping, how he achieved those numbers earned him an All–CCAA nod in 2006…came back from a serious in–season knee injury to start nine of the final 10 games…scored in double figures 11 times, including a trio of 20+ point games…career–high 23 points came in a win over CS Stanislaus (1–27–06) …first career double–double was a 19–point, 11–rebound night in the NCAA Regional Semifinals at Seattle Pacific (3–11–06).
Southeastern Illinois: Andrews led national junior college power Southeastern Illinois to the NJCAA Final Four as a freshman in 2004 and to a top five national ranking as a sophomore in 2005…made his name as one of the nation’s top defensive players while averaging 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2005…also shot 39 percent from beyond the arc.
High School: Andrews prepped at Tivoli Garden High School in Kingston, Jamaica.
Personal: Andrews is majoring in physical education and kinesiology at Cal State Bakersfield…answers to the nicknames “Zeke” and “Zico.”
