Mike Scott

Mike Scott enters his ninth season with the CSU Bakersfield men’s basketball coaching staff in Fall of 2025. He is an assistant coach of the Roadrunners and assists with the team’s recruiting.

In Scott’s nine years in Bakersfield, the `Runners have produced eleven All-Conference honorees, including two First Team members. In the classroom, the `Runners have also enjoyed nine Academic All-Conference nods in Scott’s tenure.

The 2018-19 season saw CSUB return to the postseason as Bakersfield accepted an invitation to the CollegeInisder.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) and proved to be a force on the road. CSUB won back-to-back games away from home before falling in the CIT quarterfinals.

Scott spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas (2015-17). During Scott’s tenure, he recruited two NJCAA All-Region 14 players for the Dragons and eight student-athletes that would graduate and attend NCAA Division I schools.

During the 2014-15 season, Scott was an assistant coach at Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas, where he recruited two All-Conference players: Arkeem Joseph and Anthony Alston. The Dust Devils won the Heartland Conference Championship that year.

Scott was also an assistant at Wayland Baptist where they won two conference championships and the first-ever conference tournament championship in school history. Prior to the 2013-14 season, Scott spent the 2012-13 season at his alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson. Scott began his coaching career as an assistant coach for Midland College in spring of 2012.

He played basketball professionally in a German league. At the end of the 2011 season, he returned to the United States to begin coaching. Scott graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson with a degree in media communications in 2011. Scott was also a two-year letterwinner at NCAA Division 1 Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J., and a member of the Northeast Conference. Prior to his senior season, Scott was named to the pre-season all-conference team. He averaged 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game over his two-year career for the Knights.

Prior to FDU, Scott played at the College of Eastern Utah for his sophomore season, helping lead the Golden Eagles to a 25-7 record that included a 14-game win streak. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.6 assists per game, earning him honorable mention all-conference. Scott attended TCU his freshman season, where he played in 29 games.
