Chris Crevelone is in his fourth season with the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball program in fall of 2023. He serves the Roadrunners as an assistant coach and also assists with the team’s recruiting.
In Crevelone's four years as an assistant in Bakersfield, the `Runners have produced five All-Conference honorees, including a First Team nod in 2021. In the classroom, the `Runners have also enjoyed four Academic All-Conference nods in Crevelone’s tenure.
Before coming to Bakersfield, Crevelone served seven seasons as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University. His efforts helped lead the Lopes to 20 or more wins in four of the last five seasons and a 104-59 (.638) overall record over that span.
In his time with GCU, Crevelone played an integral part of the program's recruiting efforts. Additionally, Crevelone assisted a staff that led the Lopes to finish in the top three of the Western Athletic Conference in each of its Division I seasons and a pair of appearances in WAC Tournament championship games in 2018 and 2019. The 2015-16 squad posted a program best record of 27-7 on the way to its third-straight Division I postseason appearance (CIT Third Round).
Prior to GCU, Crevelone served four seasons on the men's basketball staff at Texas. In his final two seasons, he oversaw all video operations for the men’s basketball program. Crevelone also served as a graduate assistant and assistant video coordinator during his first two years with Texas, where he also organized operations for the Longhorns' basketball summer camp program for three years.
In his role as video coordinator, Crevelone assisted head coach Rick Barnes with opponent scouting reports and video edits and was responsible for team video self-analysis and breakdown. Crevelone also oversaw the film exchange process and assisted in underclassmen recruiting and on-campus recruiting visits.
During his four years in Austin, the Longhorns advanced to three NCAA tournaments and posted an 88-50 (.638) overall record. Texas registered a 28-8 record and advanced to the NCAA third round in 2010-11. The 2009-10 Longhorns squad became the first in program history to be the top-ranked team in either national poll. Texas held the No. 1 spot in both polls for a two-week stretch.
Crevelone worked with six NBA Draft picks during his four seasons in Texas, including five first-round selections and one lottery pick: 2011 – Tristan Thompson (4), Jordan Hamilton (26), Cory Joseph (29); 2010 – Avery Bradley (19), Damion James (24), Dexter Pittman (32).
Before joining Texas, Crevelone served as assistant coach at St. Edward’s University in Austin for 2008-09. He also spent three one-year stints coaching high school basketball in Arizona and Colorado from 2005-2008.
A Tucson, Ariz. native, Crevelone played basketball and golf at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt., for two seasons before playing basketball for Adams State. He finished his English/communications degree at Adams State in 2007 before Crevelone earned his master’s in physical education from Texas.
Crevelone and his wife, Emily, have two sons, AJ and Ben, and a daughter, Devyn.
