Biography

2010 (R-JUNIOR):  Played in six games, making lone offensive start of the season at Arizona May 9...went 1-for-4 with two RBI's and one run scored against the Wildcats...recorded a two-run home run as a pinch-hitter May 8 at Arizona...pitched three times (1.2 IP)...struck out one and walked two.

2009 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the 2009 season as a medical redshirt after having Tommy John and radial nerve surgery on his pitching arm.

CHANDLER-GILBERT COMMUNITY COLLEGE:  Played his first two collegiate seasons at Chandler-Gilbert Community College...held the team's top fielding percentage for an infielder (.950)...hit eight doubles and four home runs while driving in 21 runs...earned the Coyotes' Sophomore Award...invited to play in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference sophomore all-star game...a two-time junior college all-academic selection.

MOUNTAIN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL:  Played prep baseball at Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz....helped lead the Toros to East Valley Region Championships in 2003, 2005 and 2006...the Toros earned appearances in the state tournament each of those seasons...a three time All-East Valley Region selection (2004-06) and two time all-state selection (2005-06)...was named the 2006 Arizona High School Player of the Year...2006 East Valley Region Player of the Year...2006 team MVP...2006 Toro Pride recipient...2005 East Valley Region Pitcher of the Year...senior year stats included a .375 batting average, 12 home runs and 40 RBIs...single-season home run mark is a school record...was the only undefeated 5A pitcher in 2005, posting a 9-0 record and a 1.81 earned run average.

SUMMER LEAGUE : Shannon played for the KC Royals of the Arizona Summer Collegiate Wood Bat League in 2008...played in the Boise Summer Collegiate League in 2007, earning all-league honors as a pitcher...was a member of the Arizona Firebirds, which won the Connie Mack World Series Championship in 2006...also played for the Arizona Senior Sunbelt team, which won the Senior Sunbelt National Championship in 2006.

PERSONAL : A business administration major...also pursuing a minor in sports management...career plans include playing professional baseball, then attending law school...parents are Jeff and Susan Shannon...born Oct. 28, 1987, in Mesa, Ariz.
