Richie Escalera is in his third season the volunteer assistant baseball coach at CSU Bakersfield. Escalera served as the director of operations for Bakersfield in 2013.
Escalera played for the Roadrunners in 2009 when hit hit .257 with two home runs and 23 RBI’s. Escalera set the school record for highest fielding percentage in a season when he did make an error in 197 chances during the 2009 campaign.
After leaving the program, Escalera served as a baseball coach for Baldwin Park (2010-11) and San Dimas High Schools (2011-12) where both programs advanced to the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. Escalera has also worked with the Southern California Bombers Baseball Organization (2006-12) and the Line Drive Baseball/Softball Academy (2011-12). Escalera was the athletic director at St. John the Baptist School in Baldwin Park, Calif. from Sept. 2010 to June 2011.
