Biography

 

2009: Alex Johnson started the final 19 consecutive games of 2009 after coming off the bench the first 10…scored in double figures in 12 of the last 17 games…28–of–63 (.444) from beyond the arc over last 12 games…made 6–of–10 from beyond the arc at Oregon State (1–26–09) as part of his team–high 19 points…matched his season high with five boards vs. LMU (1–4–09)…poured in a career–high 23 points vs. Portland (12–30–08)…his seven three–pointers in that game rank No. 4 in CSUB history and were the most in a home game since 1993…added a career–high four steals vs. the Pilots…led team in assists in 10 of the last 12 games…averaged 3.6 apg in his last 11 starts…matched his season–high with seven assists in the win over Cal Poly (12–23–08)…missed his career high by one but passed for a season–high seven assists at UC Davis (12–6–08)…also missed his career–high by one but grabbed a season–high five rebounds at Davis.

2008: Johnson made a big impact as a freshman, appearing in 26 games and starting 17…was leading the team in assists until injury curtailed his playing time late in the season…still finished second, averaging 2.73 apg…led team in assists nine times…also committed just 46 turnovers to lead the team in assist–turnover ratio (1.54)…matched his season high of eight assists in consecutive games vs. Cal State Northridge (11–21–07) and Pepperdine (11–25–07)…dished four or more assists eight times…scored in double figures eight times…matched his season high of 15 points at Cal Poly (12–15–07) and vs. Utah Valley (1–91–08)…was the team’s top three–point shooter, connecting on 42 percent (37–89) from beyond the arc…that mark ranks No. 17 on CSUB’s single–season list…made multiple treys in 13 games, including one stretch in which he did it in 9–of–10 games.

Vaughan Road Academy: In Johnson, the Roadrunners found one of the top perimeter players to come out of Canada for his recruiting class…prepped at Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto where he averaged 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game as a senior.

Personal: Johnson is a communications major at CSUB whose career goal is to work for ESPN…was an honor roll student and an academic all–star at Vaughan Road Academy.
