2009: Sam Jones was one of two lefties in the CSUB pitching rotation...earned five starts, but came out of the bullpen in his last 10 appearances...struck out 41 in 19 total appearances (58 2/3 innings)...tallied four strikeouts, one walk and four hits for one earned run in 4 2/3 innings of relief at Nebraska (5/8/09)...struck out three and allowed two hits in two innings of relief against UC Davis (5/21/09), earning his first save of the season.

Jones prepped at Morro Bay High School where he earned first team All-Los Padres League honors as a senior in 2006...was also a San Luis Obispo Tribune first team all-county selection...named to the Los Padre League honorable mention team and the SLO Tribune’s second team as a junior...posted a 4-4 record as a senior and a 5-2 mark as a junior...holds the school record for career wins (9) and is second all-time in innings pitched (129.2)...led the Pirates to their most successful season in history as a junior, reaching the CIF Central Section Division IV semifinal game...Morro Bay achieved a program-best 15 regular-season wins his senior season, reaching the first round of the Central Section playoffs.

SUMMER LEAGUE
Jones played for the Albany Dutchmen of the New York Collegiate Baseball League in 2009...recorded 25 strikeouts and just six walks in 27 innings...4.00 ERA...played for the San Luis Obispo Rattlers in 2007 and 2008...in the summer of 2007, Jones compiled a 6-0 record and a 1.85 ERA.

Jones is majoring in business administration at CSUB...also pursuing a minor in liberal studies...plans to earn a master’s degree and teaching credential...parents are Brian and Perri Jones...born September 12, 1988, in Mountain View, Calif.
