2009: Richie Escalera made appearances on the mound, at first base and as a designated hitter...made his first appearance on the mound against Buffalo (3/12/09), giving up two hits, three walks and six runs (two earned) in one inning of relief...had a big weekend against Nevada, going 4-for-10 with two runs and four RBIs...hit his first home run of the season against UC Santa Barbara (4/29/09), giving CSUB a 7-5 lead in the 8-6 win...went 4-for-11 with two doubles, two runs and five RBIs in three games against Nebraska (5/8-10/09)...finished the season batting .257 with 26 hits including five doubles and a pair of home runs.

MT. SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE
Escalera hails from Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) where he earned second team All-South Coast Conference honors his sophomore season...led the Mounties in batting (.322), hits (64), RBIs (32), doubles (10) and fielding percentage (.978)...also tied for second on the squad with four home runs.

SOUTH HILLS HIGH SCHOOL
Escalera led the Huskies of South Hills High School to a pair of San Antonio League championships...first team all-league selection as a senior after hitting .385...also earned the team’s Silver Slugger Award...hit .375 as a junior and was named to the second team All-San Antonio League.

SUMMER LEAGUE
Escalera played for the SoCal Bombers in 2008, helping the team to the NBC World Series...member of the SoCal Bombers squad that won the Triple Crown World Series in 2002...team also win the  USABF World Series...member of the Glendora Rebels that won the USABF World Series in 2001.

PERSONAL
Escalera is majoring in liberal studies at CSUB...enjoys hanging out with friends and his girlfriend...career plans include playing professional baseball...parents are Richard and Debbie Escalera...born September 3, 1988, in Bellflower, Calif.
