Wrapp Steps Away After 13 Years in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Following a historic career as a Roadrunner student-athlete as well as an eight-year stint with the Cal State Bakersfield coaching staff, Brent Wrapp has announced his decision to resign to pursue other opportunities.

"I am thankful for and appreciative of my time at CSUB, both as a player and as a coach," Wrapp said of his time in Kern County. "I will be forever grateful for the university, for my brothers on the court, and for the community that supported us. Thank you, Bakersfield!"

Wrapp came to Bakersfield in 2013 as a walk-on freshman, with the hope of eventually earning a scholarship. Over the next five years, his effort and determination helped drive one of the most storied careers in program history and the most successful period in Bakersfield's Division I era to date.

When the dust settled on his playing career, Wrapp had led the `Runners to the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time, the NIT Final Four in Madison Square Garden, a WAC Tournament title, and a WAC Regular Season Championship. Along the way, he tied the CSUB all-time record for most assists in a career with 520.

Wrapp's time with the `Runners did not end with his graduation as the CSUB alumnus joined the coaching staff in 2018. He served the first five years as the men's basketball team's Director of Basketball Operations before being promoted to Assistant Coach. Across his coaching tenure, Cal State Bakersfield produced 10 All-Conference honorees and 15 Academic All-Conference nods as well as a postseason appearance (CIT, 2018).

CSUB Head Coach Todd Lee expressed his gratitude toward Wrapp: "We all want to thank Coach Wrapp for everything he has done for our program as a player and a coach. I really appreciate him helping our new staff in the transition. We wish him the best in the future. He will always be a Roadrunner!"
