• The Cal State Bakersfield track and field program will kick off the outdoor portion of the 2026 season at the Sunbird Invitational. 
• The Roadrunners are excited to kick off this portion of their yearas the men join the CSUB women, who just completed an outstanding indoor season. will begin their long journey of competition. 
• CSUB has 14 regular-season outdoor competitions on the schedule. 
  • The Big West Track and Field Championships will take place May 15-16. 

CSUB at Sunbird Invitational - Feb. 20-21 

• The first competition of the meet is scheduled for Friday as the `Runner throwers will kick things off. 
  • Javier Toro, Tyler Balgeman, Adam Torres, and Daniel Hartman will all take part in the men’s hammer throw. Toro is a two-time NCAA qualifier and three-time Big West finalist and he ranks third on CSUB’s all-time list in the event. 
• Grace Padron will be the lone `Runner in the women’s hammer throw. She ranks sixth all-time for the event in program history. 
• Saturday will see the throwers joined by the rest of the squads. The men’s shot put will have Toro, Torres, and Balgeman. Balgeman will also participate in the men’s discus. 
• Jacob Yagers will take part in the men’s 1,500m and 3,000m. Yagers is the school record holder in both events and is ninth on the all-time list for the 800m. 
  • New transfer Francisco Felix will also take part in both events. 
• Coming off a great indoor season, Rionna Wallace will race in the women’s 200m and both relay events. 
  • Wallace will be joined by teammates Teague Marzetta and Chizi Okey-Dike. Both freshmen had an outstanding rookie indoor season and are ready to wear the Blue and Gold for outdoors. 
• Emilia Mandela will race the women’s 100m Hurdles; she is a conference finalist and ranks fourth on the all-time list in the event. 
• Skye Odom and Ethan Lavina are set to compete in both horizontal jumps. 
• Freshmen Laurance Burston and John Ware will race in the sprint events. 
• Jaden Cutliff will toe the line in the men’s 400mH.

• The Cal State Bakersfield softball team will continue the 2026 season on the road, this time heading 400 miles away from home to Utah. 
• This year’s Roadrunner squad features 9 returners and 14 newcomers. 
• Marianna Narvaiz, Hannah Garcia, Alexia Castro, and Faith Steffany bring the most experience back in the group of veteran `Runners. 
  • A pair of `Runner freshmen – Kayla Whaley and Kandi Malama-Ahlo – and junior transfer Kayla Visser have been the offensive highlights of the CSUB newcomers thus far.

CSUB at Lyman Classic 

• The `Runners are headed to St. George for the Lyman Classic tournament:

• CSUB will compete in four games over three days of action.

• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team will continue the 2026 season with a midweek clash before setting out for a four-team tournament. 
• Head Coach Jordon Banfield returns a core group of `Runners who excelled during the 2025 season and bolstered the roster with his first full year of recruiting.

• The Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team will open up the 2026 season against a tough slate of opponents. 
• Led by third-year Head Coach Andy Fulenwider, the 2026 edition of the Roadrunners features 11 returners and 7 newcomers. 
• Vivi Kaelin, Ella Ensign, and Sarah Martin bring the most experience back in a solid group of veteran `Runners. 
  • Among several other newcomers, Fulenwider welcomed to the squad Kendall Kaelin, a graduate transfer who is the older sister of Vivi Kaelin. The siblings are expected to pair together in the sane this season. 
• Cal State Bakersfield set outs on a new season with the ultimate goal of competing for a Big West Championship in sight. 

CSUB at FSU Unconquered Invitational 

• The `Runners are flying across the country to open the year against a strong group of opponents:

• CSUB will compete in five matches over two days of action. 
• Bakersfield will kick the tournament off against tournament host Florida State, which is ranked No. 8 in the national Preseason Poll. 
• The `Runners will also be tested against North Alabama, (RV) UAB, Southeastern Louisiana, and No. 18 Georgia State. 
  • Last year, CSUB knocked off then-No. 15 Georgia State, 3-2, at Florida State’s tournament.

• The Roadrunner women’s golf team is full swing into the second half of the 2025-26 season with a trip up the Grapevine on tap. 
  • Third-year Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter had a core group of `Runners that led the way to a historic Fall portion of the season, paced by a pair of seniors: Iris Han and Sarah Mutai. 
    • The duo is on track to wrap up their `Runner careers as the top two performers in program history. 
  • `Runner newcomers like freshman Fiona Clancy and Rena Kaneko made a huge impact in the first half of the season while sophomore was a steady fixture in the lineup

CSUB at Bruin Wave Invitational 

• The `Runners will return to action with a tournament hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA:

• The field is set to play three rounds over the two-day competition. 
• CSUB Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter regularly sends a good mixture of youth and experience into battle with opposing teams.

  • The tournament includes a great mix of teams, like hosts UCLA and Pepperdine, Big West members Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, and UC Irvine, as well as Fresno State, Yale, and Stanford, among others.

• The Cal State Bakersfield wrestling program sets out for the final events of the regular season this week. 
• Seventh-year Head Coach Luke Smith aims to continue momentum built by his program last season.

• CSUB and California Baptist (2-11, 0-8 Big 12) are set to face off for the 12th time in the two programs’ histories. 
  • CSUB owns an 8-3 record all-time against CBU, but the Lancers have won the last two meetings.
