• The Roadrunners are under new leadership as Acting Head Coach Mike Scott took over the helm five weeks before the start of the season. 
  • Scott is in his ninth season with the `Runners, previously serving as an Assistant Coach prior to being elevated to the program’s leader. 
• Guard Dailin Smith continues to be Bakersfield’s leading scorer and one of the most dangerous men in The Big West. 
  • Smith is one of only two student-athletes in the conference with three 30+-point games this season. 
• Defense continues to be a hallmark of the CSUB men’s basketball program as the `Runners rank 17th in the nation with 5.2 blocks per game this season. 
  • Power forward Ronald Jessamy leads the way with 46 blocks, which makes him tied for 32nd in the country.

• Just a couple weeks ago, the `Runners had took a trip to Hawai’i where the Rainbow Warriors took the win, 98-71.

• The Roadrunner women’s basketball team (7-16, 2-11 BW) takes flight to Paradise looking for a win in Hawai’i. 
• Second-year Head Coach Ari Wideman is leading a reform in the Roadrunner program, aided by the help of a talented coaching staff. 
  • Wideman’s roster features a pair of veteran returners and a large group of returners who are all helping redefine the team. 
• CSUB’s top offensive weapon this season has been guard Chrishawn Coleman, who ranks fourth in the Big West this season with 16.9 points per game. 
• Center Tena Ikidi has been a problem on both ends all season, averaging 6.4 points and 7.7 rebounds a contest. 
• The `Runners are in the midst of their sixth season as members of The Big West, pushing for a return to the conference tournament in March after a two-year absence.

• The 2025-26 season has reached its climax for the Cal State Bakersfield swim & dive programs as the Roadrunners head to Houston for their Conference meet. 
• Bakersfield’s swim & dive teams welcome back a strong core of veterans while adding a nice complement of newcomers to the mix. 
• Bugby and the `Runners have selected a set of veteran leaders to guide each of his squads as team captains: 
  • Men’s Captains: Arthur Amaral Schneider, Tyler Coles, Anderson Laing, Kyle Sary 
  • Women’s Captains: Josiane Hill, Carolynn Kenney, Kanyan Robinson, Evelyn Silguero 
• The `Runners are in their second season as members of The Big West as the conference added swim & dive as a sponsored sport just a year ago. 
  • In its first year at the Big West Championships, CSUB won 9 medals and set seven `Runner records along with three Big West records.

• The `Runners head to Texas to battle the best in the Big West:

• Bakersfield will look to an experienced group of `Runners that features several former All-Conference performers.

• This year’s Roadrunner squad features 9 returners and 14 newcomers. 
• Marianna Narvaiz, Hannah Garcia, Alexia Castro, and Faith Steffany bring the most experience back in the group of veteran `Runners. 
  • A pair of `Runner freshmen – Kayla Whaley and Kandi Malama-Ahlo – were the offensive highlights of Opening Weekend for CSUB.

• The `Runners are headed south to continue to sharpen their skills:

• CSUB will compete in five games over three days of action. 
• Bakersfield will face off against LMU, tournament host California Baptist (twice), Utah State, and Saint Francis. 
• The `Runners have great familiarity with the majority of the field, but Cal State Bakersfield will be competing against Saint Francis for the first time. 
• CSUB's pair of games vs. CBU will be broadcasted via ESPN+, live stats will be available for all five games.

• Head Coach Jordon Banfield returns a core group of `Runners who excelled during the 2025 season and bolstered the roster with his first full year of recruiting. 
  • This year’s Roadrunner squad features 17 returners and 26 newcomers. 
• Banfield enjoys an uncommon circumstance in that he returns all three of his weekend starters from the 2025 season: Ryan King, Shane McAlinden, and Jacob Gutierrez. 
• The `Runners will look to outfielder Nick Mascaro to lead the way after a standout 2025 campaign for which he received All-Conference recognition.  
• Earning a 20% increase in wins from 2024 to 2025 despite the fact that Banfield had to throw a schedule and a team together at the last minute, so CSUB is optimistic about the 2026 season outlook. 

CSUB vs. Southern Indiana
