`Runners Remain Undefeated in Big West Play

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team held UC Santa Barbara scoreless through 90 minutes of action Wednesday, earning a 0-0 draw at Main Soccer Field. The Roadrunners picked up their third-straight draw in Big West play, collecting another vital point toward playoff contention.

Key Facts
  • CSUB extended its unbeaten streak to five-straight matches with Wednesday night's draw.
  • Bakersfield outshot the Gauchos 5-3 in the first half and finished with four shots on goal.
  • `Runner goalkeeper Zenden Hart made five saves, all after halftime, to record his second shutout of the year.
  • Joey Velasquez and Oshea Foster led the `Runners with two shots each.
How it Happened

The `Runners controlled the early shot count, holding a 5-3 edge through the opening 45 minutes. UC Santa Barbara applied more pressure after halftime and finished the second period with an 11-6 advantage in shots, but Hart stopped all five of the Gauchos' second-half shots on goal.

With both teams pressuring but not finding the back of the net, the `Runners preserved the clean sheet. Bakersfield finished with four shots on goal, including two from Velasquez, as both teams settled for the scoreless draw.
